Code 3003
Category: ConnectionMessage shown in BigBlueButton
Server is currently not responding. Reconnection in progress (code 3003)
What it means
The GraphQL connection is open but no data has arrived from the server for 15 s; the client will drop and retry the link.
Shown only if enabled: add this code to public.app.showConnectionErrors in /etc/bigbluebutton/bbb-html5.yml (by default only 3002 and 3004 are shown).
Likely causes
- Server or GraphQL middleware overloaded or stuck
- Network silently dropping traffic
What to do
First, check who is affected.
- Only one or a few users: most likely a problem on the user's side, so follow the Student and Teacher steps.
- Everyone in one room: check that room/meeting (settings, meeting ended or recreated, room limits).
- Everyone in every room: most likely a server problem, so go to the Admin/server steps.
Students
Wait a few seconds: the client reconnects automatically. Only reload if the message stays. Check your internet connection (Wi‑Fi signal or cable) before rejoining.
Teachers
Pause for a moment: the client is reconnecting on its own.
Server admins
Check the GraphQL components (bbb-graphql-server/Hasura and bbb-graphql-middleware) and their override files in /etc/bigbluebutton/. Run sudo bbb-conf --clean, then sudo bbb-conf --watch while reproducing the error to see log errors live. Run sudo bbb-conf --check and fix the problems it reports.
