What it means
The browser denied screen-capture permission (NotAllowedError).
Likely causes
- User clicked Block
- OS screen-recording privacy setting
- Browser policy blocks getDisplayMedia
What to do
First, check who is affected.
- Only one or a few users: most likely a problem on the user's side, so follow the Student and Teacher steps.
- Everyone in one room: check that room/meeting (settings, meeting ended or recreated, room limits).
- Everyone in every room: most likely a server problem, so go to the Admin/server steps.
Students
Click Share again and choose Entire screen or Window. On macOS, allow screen recording for your browser in System Settings. When the browser asks what to share, pick a screen, window or tab and click Share (not Cancel).
Teachers
Demonstrate picking the correct screen in the browser prompt. If it repeats, share from another browser or computer.
Server admins
Document OS-specific permission steps for your institution. Run sudo bbb-conf --clean, then sudo bbb-conf --watch while reproducing the error to see log errors live.
