Code 3002
Category: ConnectionMessage shown in BigBlueButton
Unable to connect. Please check your internet connection (code 3002)
What it means
The client is disconnected and latency (RTT) is critical, or the RTT check failed: usually the user's connection.
Likely causes
- User's internet connection lost or very slow
- Server unreachable (RTT check fails)
What to do
First, check who is affected.
- Only one or a few users: most likely a problem on the user's side, so follow the Student and Teacher steps.
- Everyone in one room: check that room/meeting (settings, meeting ended or recreated, room limits).
- Everyone in every room: most likely a server problem, so go to the Admin/server steps.
Students
Check your internet connection (Wi‑Fi signal or cable) before rejoining. Try another network (for example a mobile hotspot) to check whether your current network blocks the connection.
Teachers
Pause for a moment: the client is reconnecting on its own.
Server admins
Check that https://<your-server>/bigbluebutton/rtt-check answers quickly with HTTP 200 from outside your network. Check that nginx runs and its config is valid (sudo nginx -t, /var/log/nginx/error.log). Check the GraphQL components (bbb-graphql-server/Hasura and bbb-graphql-middleware) and their override files in /etc/bigbluebutton/.
