What it means

The media server could not parse the media request (SDP) the browser sent.

Likely causes

  • Unsupported or old browser

What to do

First, check who is affected.

  1. Only one or a few users: most likely a problem on the user's side, so follow the Student and Teacher steps.
  2. Everyone in one room: check that room/meeting (settings, meeting ended or recreated, room limits).
  3. Everyone in every room: most likely a server problem, so go to the Admin/server steps.

Students

Update your browser to a supported version: Chrome 87+, Firefox 80+, Edge 85+ or Safari 14+. Try again with a different browser or device.

Teachers

Share the list of supported browsers (Chrome 87+, Firefox 80+, Edge 85+, Safari 14+) in your invitation. If it repeats, share from another browser or computer.

Server admins

Run sudo bbb-conf --clean, then sudo bbb-conf --watch while reproducing the error to see log errors live. Collect logs with sudo bbb-conf --zip and ask on the bigbluebutton-setup group if the cause is unclear.
